Investment strategy

Following a call by Caisse des Dépôts and France Assureurs to support the tourism industry during the Covid-19 crisis, in 2020 Montefiore was chosen on the strength of its track-record to manage and deploy the Nov Tourisme–Relance durable fund, worth almost €200 million.

The fund’s goals are to bolster the equity of firms in the industry to safeguard investments, step up efforts to adapt to structural challenges, lay the groundwork for the rebound and promote the emergence of a new generation of champions.

The team, made up of six sector experts, invests between €5 million and €15 million per company, typically acting in a minority shareholder capacity.

Founded in 2008 by Arnaud Delattre and Emmanuel Gaudé, Starquest backs entrepreneurs with bold ideas for areas that will play a key role in the green transition, including clean-energy generation, more efficient and virtuous industrial and agricultural processes, waste recovery and the circular economy. These are vital themes not just for the future of the planet, but also for France’s reindustrialisation and European technological sovereignty.

In 2022, Starquest joined forces with Montefiore to accelerate its positioning in high-impact investing. The 12-person team invests between €1m and €10 million per company, typically taking minority stakes.

Since its inception, Starquest has posted an average IRR of 21% and supported the creation of more than 2,000 jobs.
